Accessibility Features

Welcome to the website of the Keighley and District Association for the Blind. We have included several accessibility features in our site, to help you move around our site, and customise it to your needs.

This document covers the following:-

• A description of what our website looks like
• Moving around our site

How our pages look

All our pages have the same basic layout, starting from the top, our website contains a link to this page, this is then followed by the Associations Logo. The Associations logo is a link, and will always return you to the home page.

Moving down, the page then splits into two columns. The first column (left) is the navigation menu, it contains:-

• Links to the seven sections of our site, these are Home, About Us, Services, Appeals, Events, Volunteers and links to other sites.
• An editable search box, and button.

If you are using a screen reader, you will hear the following:-

• A link to skip the navigation, and move straight to the main document contents
• A link to jump straight to the search box.
• A description of your current location on our site.

The second column (right), contains the document text, and is structured from the top as.

The option to change the appearance

Your current location on our website, for example if your reading about the Daily Living Shop, in the services section, the following text would be displayed.

Home > Services > Daily Living Shop

A heading describing the document you are currently viewing.

The body text of the document, which may include several headings.

The first page of each section, will be a menu, containing a list of all the documents within that section.

At the bottom of the page, is our charity registration number, contact details and copyright notice.

Moving Around our site.

Moving between sections

To move between sections, you can use the following keyboard commands

• Home - ALT+1 ENTER
• About Us - ALT+2 ENTER
• Services - ALT+3 ENTER
• Appeals - ALT+4 ENTER
• Events - ALT+5 ENTER
• Volunteers - ALT+6 ENTER
• Links - ALT+7 ENTER
• This Page - ALT+8 ENTER
• Moving around a document

All our pages use headings to help you navigate around a document. Your screen reader should give you a list of headings, allowing you to quickly jump to the relevant part of a document.

For Jaws 5.0 press INSERT+F6

For Supernova 5.20 press Dolphin Key+2
