Elsie wins 2009 Mary Arnold Award
Elsie Altass of Cullingworth is the tenth winner of the coveted Mary Arnold Award.
Kevin Baldwin, Chief Executive of Keighley and District Association for the Blind says "Elsie was nominated for her voluntary work in the associations audio book library and is described as everything an organisation could want from in a volunteer, dependable,reliable, willing to take on new challenges and a pleasure to work with" The award was presented at the Lena Anderton Meeting Room by Barry Arnold and carol Woodhouse from the Arnold family. Mrs Arnold was involved with the blind association as a volunteer helper for 47 years and as a organisers of the Keighley Social Centre for the Blind for 35 years until her death in January 2000.
